Apple’s deeper iPhone vehicle integration CarPlay Ultra already got good grades from the first testers: the system uses well, CarPlay makes the direct takeover of other functions on the dashboard better overall. The problem: Currently only a car brand has announced that you are moving directly. And Aston Martin vehicles, which are initially only offered in the USA and Canada, are not mass -produced. Other manufacturers say little about CarPlay Ultra. This has now shown a survey that the Apple side macrumors carried out in the US branch opportunities of the companies last week.
Mercedes and GM don’t want to vague everyone else
So far, it is only clear that in addition to Aston, Hyundai will also introduce Kia and Genesis CarPlay Ultra together with his daughters – Apple had told this himself and this was also confirmed by Hyundai. But the South Korean company does not provide specific information on how and when. Volvo, which was still on Apple’s list in 2022 when CarPlay 2.0, which was now called Ultra, did not want to provide any information about CarPlay Ultra. Porsche and Mercedes-Benz initially made no statement. Porsche actually wanted to be one of the first providers of the new CarPlay, Mercedes gave the technology A cancellation as early as 2024.
After all: Subaru wants to investigate CarPlay Ultra for later models, Mazda also indicated that it was also analyzing “new technology” without naming CarPlay Ultra. General Motors probably remain completely car player abstinent in his modern electric vehicles, which affects brands such as Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick and GMC (USA-Only). Ford made no comment, BMW and Toyota did not get back. Honda appreciates Apple’s CarPlay, but also didn’t want to commit to CarPlay Ultra.
Carplay finally prevailed
With all the hesitation, it should be borne in mind that CarPlay itself has slowly prevailed. The car companies argued similarly at the time and wanted to keep control of their software. But the customer issue then ensured that the Apple technology was installed even in smaller and cheaper model series, but often in parallel with Android Auto, but not always.
With CarPlay Ultra, which includes significantly more vehicle functions itself, it could run similarly, also because Apple gives manufacturers a lot of freedom to adapt the surface. However, the broad enforcement should still take years when you are optimistic.
