Improved Siri: Supposedly shifts in both iOS 18 and 19

Apple has apparently continued difficulties in progress with Apple Intelligence – more precisely: With improvements in his voice assistance system Siri, which celebrates its 14th birthday in autumn 2025. Various features that have been announced for iOS 18 will therefore move Apple until May (and iOS 18.5). More awareness for Siri comes later

Apple is said to have initially planned to complete the most important work on the announced Siri features with iOS 18.4. But it doesn't look like that anymore. It is about a total of three functions. Apple had already shown in the summer to present iOS 18 that Siri received a so-called on-screen Awardness, so it should be able to read what can be seen on the screen. Furthermore, the assistant should be allowed to have more personal context about the user, for example to know who friends are and what you did a few weeks ago. Finally, Siri should master in-app campaigns, for example to edit images or send messages to voice command, which is currently only possible if apps have been prepared accordingly. This will also be the case with iOS 18.5, but Apple continues to open its APIs.

Gurman now believes that the new Siri features appear in iOS 18.5-information that has been haunting through the rumor mill for a long time. With the update, Apple Intelligence should also get to China for the first time – with local partners. Beta tests of iOS 18.5 can be expected in April – especially because developers have to get used to the new features or integrate them into their apps. Already iOS 18.4, which, among other things, brings a German Apple Intelligence, came quite late.

The really good Siri only in iOS 20?

However, it would be even more important than the three new features in iOS 18.5 mentioned if Siri finally became more talkative. For further information, the voice assistant is currently referring to Chatgpt, but Apple plans to make Siri more dialogue -oriented. At least Gurman claims that this will not be expected until next year. Apple supposedly does not succeed in packing the innovations in iOS 19, which was previously planned.

Before Apple can drive the development of Siri, which should finally work more than Chatgpt or the new Alexa, at full throttle, “Apple has to fix the underlying system”.
