ICLOUD data: Mac app secures Drive and photos

Apple’s iCloud is generally considered a safe location. In this way, if you have acquired sufficient GB to TBes as part of a +subscription, automatic backups can also be removed from iPhone or iPad. In addition, iCloud serves as a storage location for an online hard drive, called Apple iCloud Drive, also stores the photomedia library with images and videos of the users by default. But it also happens that cloud services do not work so well or that you ensure data loss yourself. Therefore, it can be used to secure the iCloud content. With Parachute Backup A few weeks ago, a special tool for MacOS computers appeared.

The developer Eric Mann’s app knows different data sources. In this way, the complete content contained in the photo app can be downloaded in full resolution, including editing, live photos and divided albums to the MAC and secured on external media on request. There is also the possibility to work with incremental backups created by schedule.

Different folder can be selected for iCloud Drive. This includes not only the online hard drive itself, but also folders of apps such as those from IWORK or Swift Playground. It is also useful that those contained in iCloud Desktop and document folders Let it be played back, which can be outsourced to the iCloud if you want too little internal SSD place.

In addition to external hard drives and SSDs, Parachute Backup also uses an integrated NAS and alternative cloud services as a storage target. This can be useful in order not to keep all data in iCloud. Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft Onedrive are currently supported. A “smart offloading” function serves to recharge the content of saving storage space to iCloud, if necessary.

When using the app, it should be borne in mind that other backup solutions such as Superduper! Or Carbon Copy Cloner can also secure iCloud data, but only if they are already available on the Mac, not directly from the cloud. The latter makes parachute backup special. Developer man has with Offloader Also another tool on offer, with which you should be able to control when MacOS outslets content to iCloud. This should then go faster with the tool than by default. The prices are civilian: Parachute Backup costs 5.99 euros, offloaders 1.99 euros. Both tools come without a subscription model.
