In June at the WWDC 2025, we expect a first look at Apple’s new software platforms, and the final updates to them will be released in the fall. But now we have unofficial information distributed by Macrumors.comwhich should reveal which iPhone models will receive an update to iOS 19 and which do not.
iOS 19 may not be launched to the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, which use the already outdated A12 Bion chipset. However, all other models after them, who already work on iOS 18, will also be able to move to the new version 19.
This includes the iPhone 16e, iPhone 16, IPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, Iphone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 15, iphone 15 Plus, IIPHONE 15 Pro, IPHONE 15 Pro Max, IPHONE IPhone 13, iphone 13 mini, iphone 13 Pro, iphone 13 Pro Max, iphone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iphone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iphone 11, III.
All of them should be updated to iOS 19, but that does not mean that they will receive the full package of extras of this version. Some features that require more modern hardware may remain inaccessible to older devices on this list.
For example, I remind you that Apple Intelligence is supported only by the iPhone 15 PRO, iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 16 series.
As for the iPad – it is indicated that the expected version of the iPados 19 will not be released for the iPad 7 and will be supported by the newer Apple tablets.
Of course, this is not official information, so keep in mind, even though the source should be reliable and with a good file.
We expect the premiere of iOS 19 and iPados 19 on June 9 during the WWDC 2025 in Cupertino, California. And this will be a particularly interesting event, because the iOS 19 is said to be a fundamental update for Apple smartphones software.
