With a score of 7 at 10 possible points, the new iPhone Air is comparatively easy to repair. This is the conclusion of the repair specialists from iFixit after they completely disassembled the device and a Magsafe battery and tried some with it. With the battery, there was one of the first abnormalities: the power memory from the external battery can also be installed directly into the iPhone Air, the smartphone runs with it. It is the same component.
The decision to use the middle of the iPhone only for the battery and attach the Logic Board above, Gluently welcome the professional shelves. This does not result in disadvantages, as with most current smartphones, the display or the back must be off anyway if you want to go to the individual parts. In the case of the air, it is enough to loosen the rear glass lid using heat, then you get directly to the battery. This is attached with electrically conductive adhesive strips, which can easily be loosened after creating voltage: 12 volts were sufficient for 70 seconds if the current was not specified.
USB port with titanium, but to be exchanged
The only housing opening that has long been common at iPhones, now via USB-C, is one of the biggest challenges when designing a minimum of 5.64 millimeters. The loading and data sport must be as flat as possible, and yet very stable, because it is inevitably mechanically stressed. According to Ifixit, it consists of 3D-printed titanium, which was later worked out, according to Ifixit. As exactly, it has not yet been clarified. The repairers bring a patent into play here that Apple achieved in 2015 by taking over the Metaio company.
Apple also resisted the temptation to build the port and the surrounding frame from a piece of metal: the actual border of the socket is screwed, so it can be exchanged with comparatively little effort. Despite these measures, the iPhone Air remains sensitive when bending, especially at the top and below, where the battery is not stabilized, too much strength should not be used.
