GPT-5 becomes part of iOS 26, confirms Apple

According to a report, Apple has confirmed that the new GPT 5 model from Openai will also come to iPhone & Co. According to 9to5mac this will be done via the operating system integration of Chatgpt, which is part of Apple Intelligence. However, interested parties have to be patient a little longer: Before the appearance of iOS 26 and the other new systems in autumn, it obviously won’t be anymore. GPT-5 can currently over the Chatgpt app on iPhone, iPad and Mac can be used, but not via Apple’s in-house integration of the Openai-Ki system.

Openai should deliver “world knowledge”

The iPhone manufacturer currently uses GPT-4O in iOS 18, IPADOS 18, MacOS 15 and Visionos 2. The model can be switched on on request, but does not have to be used. According to Apple, it is about the in -house models with which texts can be formulated and summarized to add “world knowledge” (World Knowledge). It is still unclear whether Apple users can choose whether they prefer to continue using the older GPT-4O model instead of GPT-5.
