Apple’s supply chain has created more than 350,000 jobs on the subcontinent in the past five years – solely with suppliers, such as have communicated informed circles from the Indian government. According to a report by the local business newspaper Economic Times, there are 230,000 jobs that were “also” created for Apple – with around 45 companies that produce components, among other things. 120,000 positions were “directly” created, so only because Apple provided larger orders.
China model now also in India
The iPhone manufacturer has invested massively in factories in the country in recent years. As usual with Apple, they are operated by finishes like Foxconn (Taiwan) or Tata (India). Most recently, over 25 percent of all the group’s smartphones were screwed together on the subcontinent. Most of the necessary parts come from China and other delivery countries such as South Korea, Vietnam or Taiwan. The fact that the suppliers in India are now creating more jobs shows that Apple is trying to create local structures in parallel.
The “PlayBook” follows Apple’s approach in China, where the group is very “hands on” and shows its finished and component suppliers exactly how and which products should be built. Many of the companies also work in other areas, as it was most recently called in the book “Apple in China”. This also has an impact on other markets. In China, however, Apple has been massive since the mid-1990s, and investments were almost $ 160 billion in 2012. It is expected that the group also takes enormous funds in India.
Well -known names from the delivery scene
India has not yet reached China’s level. In 2025-at least temporarily-around 1.4 million people worked in the country in Apple production, 350,000 people work for the iPhone alone at one location.
The current suppliers in India include Tata Electronics, Titan Engineering, Avary and others. One of the reasons for the increased production in India are the US tariffs-although this does not appeal to the Trump administration at all. She wants Apple’s production to return to the USA.
