Google is introducing mandatory verification for all Android developers since 2027.

Google will make a new step against combating counterfeit, filing and malware -filled apps from 2027, reports The VergeS The measures will include a mandatory verification of each developer for the company’s mobile platform, whether or not its software is distributed to the Play Store or not.

Initially, this measure will be introduced in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand in the fall of 2026, with these four countries being selected because there is a great saturation of fraud and misuse of personal data in their regions as a result of installing unverified applications.

Under the new rules, any developer who wants his app to be used on certified Android devices, whether it distributes it on the Google Play Store or in a separate store, will have to submit the necessary documentation.

It includes the completion of an application, which includes the names, address, email and phone of the respective responsible person, and in some cases, an official identity document may even be requested.

Such requirements are already in force for developers who publish their own software on the Play Store, but with the new regulations it will not affect all other creators of software for the ecosystem of the technology giant.

Following the initial tests in the aforementioned countries in Latin America and Asia, the changes will come into force worldwide from 2027. Earlier this year, Apple introduced close to these requirements for its App Store within the EU to comply with the current digital services act within the Union.
