Representatives of the new US government under Donald Trump and Google had met several times to talk about the threat of splitting the group. Because a court has noticed that Google is a monopolist and uses its dominant position, at least the browser business is to be split off, the judicial department (DOJ) demands. The authority also adheres to this in the now published application – in clear words. In contrast, investments in the AI startups Anthropic are no longer an issue. Negotiations on the sale of the Android division are also initially postponed.

Anthropic received a total of about three billion US dollars from Google. The room stood in the room whether Google could have a great impact on the company. There was also a similar situation through the investments by Microsoft in Openaai. The allegations that Microsoft has gotten power over Openai are also off the table. Most recently, the gangs of companies had loosened, Openai cooperated, for example, with Oracle in the Stargate major project and relies on their computing power instead of those provided by Microsoft.
The situation is somewhat different with Elon Musk's accusation against Openai and Microsoft. He complains because the two investors are said to have committed not to invest in competing AI startups. That could violate competition law.
Prosecutor finds clear words in the application
In the application of the dojAccording to Google's monopoly position: “Google's illegal behavior has created an economic Goliath that devastates the market to ensure that Google – no matter what happens – always wins.” Google is also referred to as “the goalkeeper” on the Internet. People went on duty every day.
“Google's competitive behavior has withheld a fundamental American value to users – namely the opportunity to select on the market.” Because of the sheer size of Google and the power, one could no longer choose between competing services. In addition, it is said that the path of a monopolist often begins with “free goods and the promise of an exciting future and ends under the control of an economic 'autocrat of trade'”. It follows that the people themselves become a product for free products.
Google, on the other hand, says the split would endanger national security. It also damages the US economy and consumers.
In April the hearings from Google and the US judicial authority start ahead of judge Amit Mehta.
