Google Maps moves into Garmin watches. The new app is available on selected models from the Venu, Forerunner, Vivoactive and Fenix series. Similar to smartwatches, it can be displayed directly on the wrist on smartwatches.

According to Garmin, users must first enter the planned goal on their Android smartphone. The navigation instructions are then transferred to the clock. The function then provides information about any change of direction, while you are on foot or by bike.
Garmin also explains that pedestrians are pointed out to upcoming directional changes with the help of vibrations in order to save a view of the smartphone. In addition, users can display the next three turns on the smartwatch.
The new navigation does not stand in the way of sporting activities: users who record an activity including distance information, heart rate and other sensor data with their Garmin watch can use the Google Maps app for navigation in parallel.
After the end of the run or other activity, users can synchronize their activity data from Garmin-Connect via Health Connect with other Android health and fitness apps.
The fact that Garmin Google Maps does not offer for iPhone users should be due to Apple’s restricted interfaces. The restrictions on the part of the Apple for Smartwatches providers only made the Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky clear a few months ago in the course of the announcement of the new Pebble models.
