For many according to the survey, of course: headphones also used at home

Many people in Germany also shield themselves at home with headphones when they stream videos. This is one of the results of the moving image study “Screens in Motion 2025” from Burda-Verlag.

Accordingly, 30 percent have a regular headphone when you watch videos on the way, another 27 percent occasionally. Almost as often, the headphones are also used at home – at 26 percent regularly and occasionally with another 30 percent.

The frequent use in their own four walls also “really surprised” the authors of the study, as the person responsible for “Screens in Motion”, Marion Sperlich, told the German Press Agency Inberlin.

Sperlich is also active as Head of Research Market Media Insights in Burda-Verlag. The topic of headphones were included in the survey for the first time this year.

“The question arises: why is it? The better sound quality about headphones can be a reason,” said the expert. “Another reason is that you do not want to disturb other roommates who consume different content at the same time on another device. Almost half indicate if you cannot agree to see everyone.”

The market research institute Yougov interviewed around 2,000 people for “Screens in Motion 2025”. The study is considered representative of the population from the age of 14 with online access in Germany.

According to the results, 68 percent look at linear TV at least once a month. This gives the classic telly with a fixed program process compared to the previous year. From 2019 to 2024, this group of spectators had already shrunk by 18 percentage points. In the meantime, almost a third sees linearly far a month away – or not at all.
