Folding iPhone hinges will be made of liquid metal

For every folding smartphone, hinges are crucial, so it is no surprise that Apple is particularly serious about this component for their supposedly folding device. According to the analyst, the Ming Chi Kuo hinges of the future iPhone will be made of liquid metal-a material that the company has already used, but in much smaller quantities and sizes for its needles to remove the SIM slot.

The liquid metal that uses a pressure pouring process will allow Apple to improve two key to each folding device aspect – the plane of the inner screen, as well as the visible fold that apple He intends to eliminate with his first device in the segment.

The use of liquid metal will also improve the overall durability of the folding iPhone, which, given the expected price, is certainly important for any potential user. The most likely liquid metal supplier will be the Chinese company Dongguan Eontec.

Outside the hinges, we can expect a 7.8 '' display in unfolded book type, 5.5 '' external display. Dual main camera, two selfie cameras, and Touch ID integrated into the on and off button. The thickness of the apparatus should be about 4.5mm in unfolded and between 9mm and 9.5mm in the folded position.

The mass production of the folding iPhone is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026, and the potential launcher – at the end of the same or the beginning of 2027.
