First tests of the iPhone 16e: trouble about Magsafe, praise for the battery life

The first tests of the new iPhone 16e appeared on Thursday night. Most of the reviewers who were able to try out the device for just under a week certify the device a very good battery life and good equipment. However, the waiver of the magnetic fastening Magsafe is very critical. When evaluating the price-performance ratio, opinions differ widely.

“Everything that is wrong on this phone is the price”, Judges YouTuber Marquess Brownlee (MKBHD) And in many cases, the iPhone 15 Pro sees a better and cheaper alternative. Also The US-Techportal The Versge expresses the viewthat the iPhone 16e is too expensive for what it offers. From the critics' choir, only the very Apple-friendly Youtuber IJustine and The Swiss journalist Rafael Zeier. The latter speaks of the “most reasonable iPhone”.

Apple's first own radio modem chip, the C1, has proven to be solid the first time. Sometimes it was better, sometimes worse than the Qualcomm chip in the iPhone 16, the verge and other reviewers confirm that. The C1 will definitely pay positive for the battery life. Matthias Kremp writes from Spiegelit is almost as persistent as the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max. Other testers also confirm the term that reaches the pro models.

Most of them have no understanding for the waiver of MAGSAFE. The device loads wirelessly, but it is not magnetically liable. “A big step back”, it says at CNET. There are also isolated criticism of other waiver decisions, for example in the lack of the ultra -wake angle camera compared to the iPhone 16 or that the 16e does not have an ultra -line chip chip and thus misses the function for precise finding of Airtags. Some of the lack of Dynamic Island as an additional advertisement for information. On the other hand, there is praise for the installation of the current A18 chip and the new AI functions of Apple.

The camera ensures mixed reactions. The smaller camera sensor compared to the iPhone 16 is seen as a disadvantage in some. The predominant tenor, however, is that the wide-angle camera takes very decent photos.

In the target group of the iPhone 16E, most testers locate the device for owners of older iPhones, such as an iPhone 11 or SE. Android changers are also considered possible addressees. However, several no longer want to speak of one entry device. “Apple's farewell from the entry -level area,” judges the Spiegel. And CNET speculates that the device aims at the fact that interested parties will ultimately buy the more expensive iPhone 16.
