How expensive is Apple's first foldable? According to a new analyst report, it could become the “most expensive iPhone ever”. The first devices could allegedly appear in 2026, it is said from Apple's supply chain – although it is still unclear which device type it will be.
Over 2000 euros – as an entry
Tim Long from the British Bank House Barclays wrote in a report to investors this week that the starting price for a foldable iPhone in the USA should probably be $ 2300. That would be 2100 euros according to the current course – although Apple's European prices are usually even more expensive. The equipment of such a model is unclear. With more memory, however, it could be significantly more expensive. With the iPhone 16 Pro Max you pay an additional charge of 500 euros for 1 TB instead of the standard 256 GB. Accordingly, prices would be conceivable when fully equipped, which are (clearly) over 2500 euros, more towards 3000 euros.
To classify: Apple had already offered iPhones in top equipment for more than 2000 euros – the iPhone 14 Pro Max with 1 TB in 2022 with just under 2100 euros. For an iPhone 16 Pro Max you can currently leave 1949 euros at Apple – at least 1 TB – in retail (from € 1699) However, it is already cheaper. In the US direct comparison, Apple would have achieved a (almost) doubling of the price during the foldable: there you currently pay $ 1200 for starting the iPhone 16.
Also an iPad/Mac hybrid?
The information from Barclays coincides with those who recently dared to dared the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities from Taiwan: He also believes in entry prices for an Apple foldable of $ 2000 to $ 2500. In his view, there will be a 7.8-inch inner display, a 5.5-inch outdoor display and a return of Touch ID. However, he does not set himself up for a start date. Currently there are room in 2026 or 2027.
Another new report by the analyst Jeff PU from GF Securities in Hong Kong speaks that there are two Apple foldables that appear in 2026 or 2027: an iPhone and a kind of iPad/Mac combination. The latter allegedly gets up to 19 inches when opened. PU also believes that the iPad/Mac combination MacOS uses a operating system-an unusual decision for a touchscreen device for Apple, where MacOS has so far been completely rejected for iPads.
