Final Cut Pro: Apple published updates for PRORES RAW

Apple has updated its video editing software Final Cut Pro for both Mac and iPad and added support for PRORES RAW videos of the iPhone-17-Pro models. At the same time, the company published Final Cut Camera 2.0 for the iPhone.

Final Cut Pro 11.2 for Mac and Version 2.3 for iPad bring new editing options for PRORES RAW material. Among other things, users can now adapt exposure and color temperature directly in the software. In addition, both versions support the new Apple Log 2 format with a corresponding LUT for natural color rendering.

The iPad version receives a new menu bar, which is accessible by wiping gestures from the upper edge of the screen or mouse pointer navigation. This function requires ipados 26.

With Final Cut Camera 2.0, Apple is introducing RAW recordings in the open gate format for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. The app now offers timecode options including Time of Day and Record Run as well as genlocol functionality for the precise synchronization of several video sources via compatible sync generators. Further innovations include the quick change to the 200mm teleline (8-fold zoom) and dynamic alignment adjustments to the front camera, regardless of iPhone posture.

The updates are now available free of charge for existing customers in the App Store. Final Cut Pro for Mac continues to cost 349.99 euros for new customers, while the iPad version costs 4.99 euros per month or 49 euros annually. The accompanying apps compressor and motion for Mac also received updates.
