Epson projectors get Homekit and AirPlay 2

The Japanese office device manufacturer Epson subsequently made a number of its products fit for Apple ecosystems. Overall, a dozen devices can now be addressed with HomeKit and AirPlay 2 using an update. Some models have already mastered both procedures ex works, the company announced in a press release. One wants to improve the convenience and connectivity of their projectors, according to the manufacturer.

The current list includes the models EB-FH18, EB-FH54, EB-994F, EB-L890E, EB-L795SE, EB-L790SU, EB-L895U, EB-L790U, EB-L690U, EB-L690SU and EB-L695SU. Not all of them are immediately available in European trade. Some are also professional classes that cost between 4,000 and 5000 euros. Not only offices or educational institutions, but also private customers are addressed.

With AirPlay 2, the devices can be fed directly from iPhone, iPad or Mac. For example, it is possible to share the entire screen or only individual areas. In addition to the video, the sound is of course also passed on. If the internal loudspeaker is not enough, AirPlay speakers can also be addressed in parallel, image and sound synchronize themselves. Homekit connection allows the projector to be controlled by means of the Apple Home app on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac Plus-via control center-Apple TV. One of the functions currently available is the option of switching on or off the projector from the Apple device. This can also be done through Apple’s voice assistant Siri.

The supported projectors work with 3LCD or 4K laser projection. Apple has its list of compatible home devices, including televisions, streaming boxes and other projectors, Published on his website. The Epson devices are not yet listed. So far, Epson has not yet made any information on how the necessary updates are recorded and when they are available.

However, it should only be a few weeks or months. Unfortunately, the group does not differentiate between devices that receive HomeKit and AirPlay 2 at the factory – and those who need new software.
