Quite controversial, but also interesting: Apple’s basic design converted into iOS 26 and Co. Apple developers Apparently for great demand, at least as far as trying out. As CEO Tim Cook announced on Thursday evening in front of analysts when announcing the latest quarterly figures, many developers wanted to test the Developer Beta, which has been provided since June.
“Great dynamics”
It is “wonderful to see” how “a great dynamic for our platforms” develops, says Cook. According to it, the iOS-26 pre-adversion “is by far the most popular Developer Beta that we have ever had”. This also applies to Ipados 26 and MacOS 26, which have also been downloaded very often. However, Cook did not name any specific installation figures, even the public beta of the new operating systems that has only been around last week, the CEO did not comment.
However, it can be assumed that this too is of great interest, because the redesign of iOS and Co. has not been going that far for years. However, it is best to have an additional device ready for the beta and not test with an everyday iPhone (or everyday IPAD). Finally, the beta still contains errors and the changes to UI and operation could possibly be frightened. On the Mac, it is advisable to try MacOS 26 in a virtual machine. This is particularly easy and free of charge With virtual buddy.
Developer beta has been free since last year
However, it should be borne in mind that Apple had only lifted the obligation to be a paying developer two years ago to download betas. Before that, you had to give almost $ 100 to Apple a year. Accordingly, it is now much easier to get into developer betas, which the target group has certainly enlarged. It is enough to use its Apple account on the Developer website to register and accept Apple’s contractual conditions.
iOS 26, MacOS 26 and the other new operating systems will probably appear in September. Visionos 26 for the Vision Pro cannot currently be tested outside the Developer Beta. Apple should also keep that.
