Google aims to integrate its AI system Gemini within iOS. This was shared this week in front of a court in Washington this week, where this week was currently being negotiated on the future of Google search and an end to the sales of Chrome by the Internet company after the US Ministry of Justice had submitted a cartel lawsuit. The reports The financial news agency Bloomberg.
Deal to “middle of the year”?
Apple is also affected in the procedure, since the iPhone group takes billions with a search deal with alphabet. Pichai’s statement should stand for the fact that Google openly shows to cooperate with other large corporations. Apple has its own, rather limited AI system with Apple Intelligence, but already uses Chatgpt as an optional way to improve the range of functions. Apple software boss Craig Federighi had already made hints that one could imagine cooperating with other companies. It would be conceivable – at least theoretically – that Apple also opens for other LLMs like Metas Llama.
According to Pichai, he hopes to be concluded with a contract this year. Then Gemini could be in iOS 19, which is expected for autumn. Observers assume that it will remain as optional as chat. According to Pichai, there were already “a number of talks” at the highest level, such as Apple CEO Tim Cook. A deal can be “until the middle of the year”, the manager hopes.
Long collaboration with Google
Apple stops its annual developer conference WWDC in June. Among other things, a redesign of iOS and MacOS is expected this year. Apple and Google have been working on the iPhone since 2007. The search giant initially provided the data for the map app (until 2012) and quickly had its own YouTube client on the device. For years, the search deal with Apple, which also affects iOS and macOS in addition to iOS-has been running in the Apple browser Safari, Google Standard search, Apple is involved.
With Apple Intelligence, Apple actually wanted to pull up with competitors such as Openai or Google, but the AI system is still comparatively weak. For example, you can have texts corrected and summarized or generate images – the latter not photo -based.
