The well-known developer Iconfactory has presented a new version of his mini-editor dead (in English means something like “Knirps” or “toddler”). The app comes in version 2.0 for Mac, iPhone and Apple Watch and serves the quick recording of notes in a total of seven “dots” intended for this, ie documents. Thanks to iCloud synchronization, you should always have important information on all devices.
Small but fine changes
Version 2.0 comes with the usual colorful design, but receives a number of new features. This includes new text divisors, i.e. lines between sections to separate the content clearer, new “smart bullets” for lists that users can configure themselves and provide shortcuts. Automatic indentations that adapt the content if the window is too small are also new. The indentations can also be used in the only text mode, which alternatively supported (for example for Markdown).
ICONFACTORY still has a number of Troubleshooting and usability improvements integrated. On request, the app also opens on the Mac in your own window (standard), but most conveniently you continue to place it in the menu bar. There you can also display the color of the currently active dots. In the Mac version, however, we noticed that the search shows the search result in some cases quite dark-the IconFactory team has already been made aware of the bug.
Dead 2.0 on the Mac for the first time
So far, dead was only subject to a fee under iOS. Version 2.0 changes this on the Mac: If you want new features such as the adjustable text divider or the smart bullets, you have to unlock the app for just under 20 euros (in-app purchase). The purchase of the iOS version is not transferable to the Mac because it is not a universal app. All functions made of dead 1.0 remain free of charge under MacOS.
Pocket’s iOS version also costs just under 20 euros and can be upgraded free of charge from the Premium version 1.0. Standard functions are also free of charge there. The Apple Watch version of TOT costs just under 2 euros. Here is a modern UI and a new “+” button for quick complement new texts including menu button (“…”) for further settings. If you have registered dead 1.0 on the watch, you can also upgrade free of charge.
