Clip: A clipboard manager for iPads-only in the EU away from the app store

The clipboard manager “Clip” is now designed for the iPad. The tool is only available in the alternative app shop “Altstore Pal” and therefore only within the EU, where the Digital Markets Act forces such sales channels. Since the current version 18, iPados has also supported other app marketplaces than just the App Store. In addition to the iPad adjustment, version 1.2 of clip provides another useful function in the form of an iOS or iPados keyboards, through which it can be easily inserted.

On iOS and iPados, apps that permanently monitor the clipboard in the background are not intended. Accordingly, there are no full-fledged clipboard managers. With several workarounds, clip can continue to pay attention to changes in the clipboard and then shows a message. If the user wipes it down, it stores the copied content in the background in clip – without having to leave the currently used app. This makes Clip much closer to a real clipboard manager than all other tools in this category available for iOS / iPados. In order to enable this, Clip uses the location services of the operating system, among other things, and is therefore not allowed to go to the App Store.

Outside the app store could Clip 1.2 At first not appearing because Apple has refused the so -called notarization, as the developer Riley Testut notes. Apple also checks every iOS and IPADOS app before the approval for alternative sales channels, and in terms of content the group does not actually want to intervene there. It took almost two weeks until the update was finally nodded off.

Clip was originally subject to a fee, as was as well as Altstore Pal. The alternative app marketplace is now free, which also applies to clip. A download of the clipboard manager requires, however, to follow the developer and old store operator Riley Testut.

Apple himself has never packed a clipboard manager for its operating systems, which is surprisingly changing with MacOS 26 Taoe, which will be released in autumn. Contents stored in the clipboard can be found and continued to find a limited extent via the new Spotlight search. This useful functional expansion was not announced for iPados 26 and iOS 26.
