Clear Case for the iPhone 17 Pro: new design, lanyard holes and maybe colorful

In addition to the new “Techwoven” covers for the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, Apple also plans to redesign its popular Clear Case. The reported The Leaker Majin Bu. That currently 59 euros for iPhone-16 models Case receives a redesign in which only parts of the shell are transparent. New is a milky white area on the back in which Apple has shipped the Magsafe hardware-including a large Apple logo in gray. What purpose this new look serves is unclear. The Clear Case is currently completely transparent except for the Magsafe circle and “Stängel”.

Otherwise the large cut out area for the camera module is striking. This runs across the entire housing width. As usual, it is surrounded by a lip, so that the actual camera optics cannot open on the floor in case of case gaps. Apple also installs a possibility of operating the camera control in the Clear Case for iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. Whether this was simply released or has its own switch cannot be removed from the pictures spread by Majin Bu, but it looks like the latter.

Furthermore, the Clear Case to Apple’s new Lanyard, which is probably called “Crossbody Strap”, is compatible. For this, the necessary holes on the underside of the housing (on both sides) are released. The lanyard, which is probably to be carried around the neck, is apparently kept magnetic – exactly how this is done is not yet leaked. According to Majin Bu, Apple has also tested colored variants of the Clear Case, which could later appear as “limited seasonal editions”. Apple uses a material for the plastic that cannot easily yellow-that was already the case with earlier Clear-Case variants. There is a special coating for this.

On the other hand, Apple does not seem to have solved standard problems such as fingerprint susceptibility and tendency to scratch. Due to the large white surface, however, both can be seen less strongly.

For Apple, iPhone cases are of great economic importance: With the accessories, the group earns a lot of money thanks to thick margins. It was all the worse that the “techwoven” predecessor Finewoven alias Feinbissen had serious material problems. It has now been almost completely removed from the market. The iPhone-17 models will be presented next Tuesday.
