iOS 26 has a useful new function for users of the iPhone camera in store: For certain models of the smartphone, you will in future be warned if the system determines that the lens is (too) dirty. A corresponding switch that seems to be active by default can be found in the camera settings.
Where is the microfiber cloth?
Such a feature is actually not new: Android devices have been coming for several years With such procedures. The camera application “knows” what a clean lens looks like, and compares this with the current recording quality. If the difference is too large, there is a warning dialogue and you can use the camera -compatible microfiber cloth and/or cleaning alcohol.
However, dirt recognition is not available on all iPhones. It initially remained unclear whether standard devices are also supported or that it always has to be a pro and Pro-Max model. In addition, it depends on the generation: iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 report the function report. However, an iPhone 14 Pro Max, which was available in the Mac & I editorial team, did not know it, but the feature is simply not to be found in the setting dialog. If the “Lens Cleaning Hints” disturb, for example because you are traveling in a dusty environment, you can deactivate it at any time.
Camera app completely new
Apple significantly changes the camera application in iOS 26. At first glance, the surface appears clearer and more minimalist, since various menus can only be seen when you wipe, antipped certain elements or hold an area. This should initially confuse long-time iPhone users because the control scheme changes-not necessarily towards more logic. Apple also uses its new Liquid Glass-UI, which works with transparent areas.
iOS 26 is expected in September. The iPhone-17 generation should be presented around September 9, the new operating system can then be downloaded a week or two after the keynote for users. Runs at the moment A public beta test. Apple’s work has apparently not yet ended, so there is still greater changes from Beta to Beta to the surface.
