One of the most popular shows at TV+, the Netflix competitor of Apple, is “The Studio”. The ten -part series is about a boss of a Hollywood studio played by Seth Rogen, which has no longer any creative intentions, but has to deal with financially pressure, crazy actors and other problems. After all, there were 93 percent positive reviews at Rotten Tomatoes, last week the first season ended with ten episodes. In addition, there was one or the other drama behind the scenes: how US media reportApple, at least the show, wanted to place itself in the series, which Rogen, who is also a producer, did not like.
“We said no”
Accordingly, it was about a very specific scene that is very short: in episode 8, broadcast on May 7, there is a short encounter with the co-boss of Netflix, Ted Sarandos. “The Studio” is known for the fact that many well -known faces who play themselves in a modified form appear. As Business Insider reports, Apple also wanted to play along.
Rogen himself announced this on the red carpet at the premiere of the series in March at the SXSW festival. Instead of Sarandos, according to the actor, Apple suggested that they simply take Tim Cook, i.e. the Apple boss. “They asked if we (instead of Sarandos) could take Tim Cook, but we said no.”
No thanks for Cook
However, the decision does not seem to have had consequences, although Netflix even occurs as running gag in the said episode. The Golden Globes’ winners all thank Netflix and especially with his co-boss. After all, Rogen, who plays the studio chief Matt Remick, meets Sarandos as Remick. He then says that he had the contracts write that he had to be thanked personally at award ceremonies. It has not been handed down whether Cook would have agreed to this, Rogen does not seem to have been open to such “real” meta humor.
Apple did not want to comment on the report. In any case, “The Studio” has not been canceled: TV+ has already ordered a second season. Incidentally, it is known that Apple has larger appearances in its own series: the group prefers to interact protagonists with Apple products when it comes to technology.
