When will the first Macs come with the brand new M5 chip? After it has long been speculated that the devices will only be released in spring 2026, there are now the opposite views from a appointed mouth. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who is considered to be well wired when it comes to Apple, now writes that at least with a model be so far could.
Storage empty – new devices?
It is about the successor to the MacBook Pro M4-a notebook variant with a simple M5 chip without Pro and Max. Gurman says that both the iPad Pro M4 and the MacBook Pro M4 are “quite restricted” in Apple’s shops and in the company’s online store-at least in the USA. That is “a good sign for an early debut by the iPad Pro M5”. But also, and that is new, the entry-level MacBook-Pro with M5 chip and 14-inch screen.
The fact that the iPad Pro M5 will appear very soon is considered: there was a large leak of model numbers from the US communication supervision FCC and a Russian YouTuber. With the FCC, however, a MacBook also appeared in the database, which observers appeared puzzling. It looked like a M5 chip model. Apparently this is the entry-level device of the PRO line. So far, nothing can be heard from a completely new cheap MacBook, which is also to be on Apple’s agenda.
Stagated release of the M5-MACs
It would now be conceivable that Apple will present the MacBook Pro M5 with 14 inches together with the new iPad Pro M5 in October, but not other Macs with M5, which could only follow in spring. Means: professionals who usually wait for the variants with pro and/or max chip still have to be patient. An appointment would be conceivable between January and March.
Gurman claimed in the summer that Apple would not be released MacBook Pro models with M5 before spring 2026. Even then, he had changed his opinion: at the beginning of 2025, he still assumed that the M5 machines will come in 2025. Really exciting changes next to the M5 are not expected-MacBooks with OLED screen are said to appear until the end of 2026, then already with M6 chip. So far, Apple has only sold two devices with large OLEDs: iPad Pro M4 in the variants with 11 and 13 inches.
