Apps, subscriptions, Hollywood and advertising: Apple’s service business | Mac & i-podcast

Apple made almost $ 100 billion in sales in the past year alone-a almost quarter of total sales. This means that services have now become the second most important pillar behind the iPhone and also much more lucrative than hardware business. Streaming services such as TV+, Apple Music and iCloud serve as the figureheads, but a good part of the services comes from app store commissions and license payments, for example from Google for placement as a standard search engine. Apple’s advertising business contributes a small but growing part.

In Episode 96, Malte Kirchner and Leo Becker take a detailed view of Apple’s services, including in addition to TV+ also arcade, fitness+ and podcasts – as well as the bundle Apple One. We also discuss iCloud or iCloud+ as well as payment services such as Apple Pay. It is also about the search deal with Google and “Apple Ads”- and how the more important service and advertising business changes the group.

The Mac & I Apple Podcast appears with the moderator duo Malte Kirchner and Leo Becker in the two-week rhythm and can be used via RSS feed (Audio Or video) Subscribe to each podcast app of choice-from Apple Podcasts to Overcast to Pocket Casts.

You can also find it in Apple’s podcast directory (Audio or video) and at Spotify. Appear on YouTube New videos of the recording in the Mac & I channel. We look forward to feedback, criticism and questions to podcast@mac-and-i.de.
