This summer, the Vision Pro in Germany has been on the market for a year, and in the United States it celebrated its one -year year in February. The American business newspaper Wall Street Journal This now took this as an opportunity to ask buyers of the Apple headsets (Europe: from 4000 euros), which will be at least $ 3500 in the United States, what they do with the device and whether they may regret the purchase. The result is unsightly: the hardware is often rarely brought out, there are some “Buyer’s Remorse” (loyalty to buy) also under early adopters and the question of how the device continues at Apple remains unanswered.
Hardware too heavy and too expensive
The WSJ quotes the buyer Dustin Fox with the words, his vision per collective dust. “I think I have brought it out four times last year.” The real estate agent, who describes himself as Early Adopter, finds the hardware “clearly too heavy”. He could only wear it for 20 to 30 minutes before the neck hurt. Another early buyer, Tovia Goldstein from New York, reports that he can only watch TV shows or films for 60 minutes, “then I have to remove it”. In addition, there are not enough apps for the Vision Pro. “I would not recommend anyone to buy today (the headset), unless they are really rich and do not know what they want to do with their money.”
However, Apple is not the only company that has difficulty bringing its headset to large customer groups. But none of the devices – except for professional classes – is as expensive as the Vision Pro. It is still only sold from the manufacturer itself, the price did not drop. But there is less and less interest in the Apple shops where the group had set up extra demonstration areas. Apple does not call sales figures. After all, Visionos will be updated regularly, probably also with scrolls with a eye.
Apple continues
It is also not to be expected that Apple simply gives up the vision division. The production of the Vision Pro is said to have ended at the end of last year. But the group is working internally on new, hopefully cheaper models and also wants to bring “real” augmented reality glasses to the market, even if this could take years. The Wall Street Journal also comes to a mixed conclusion. The quality of the Vision Pro in terms of screen and operation using eye tracking has so far remained unbeaten in the industry. If it weren’t for the annoying form factor – and the price. One of the users surveyed has now found a good opportunity to consume entertainment content at least: it is simply in bed, which leads to a better weight distribution.
U2 singer Bono, whose special “Stories of Surrender” As the first broadcast, as a “Apple Immersive” on the Vision Pro, it stated in front of journalists that Apple wool wants to make his device cheaper. “I know that Apple absolutely wants to make the vision per affordable and more democratic.” Apple knew that not everyone can afford the device. “But they continue because they are convinced that one day it is worth it.”
