Apple’s “Home device” Alias “Home-Hub” “, which is spiritual” Home device “last year, will probably not come before the coming year. This is reported by the Bloomberg financial news agency – and thus confirms previous reports. The hardware with the code name J490 was originally supposed to come with new Siri functions that Apple had intended for iOS 18.4, but then had to move due to technical problems. This included access to the context of the user (context -sensitive siri) as well as to read and/or interact with it on the screen. In addition, the home hub should use a new version of the so-called app Inents, with which apps can be controlled-but Apple has not yet distributed it.
Home hub with and without speakers
The home hub is said to be hardware with which users can control their smart home based on Apple’s Homekit standard. It is said to have a square six -inch screen, run with an operating system called HomeOS and can be controlled by language.
An App Store is supposedly not intended at first, but a camera for Facetime calls is apparently installed. The SOC used could come from the iPhone 16 and would be ready for Apple intelligence. It was still unclear whether a loudspeaker is installed directly in the home hub or Apple is planning a kind of loudspeaker dock for the device. In addition, the rumor mill disagreed whether the home hub may (also) represent a new version of Apple’s HomePod speakers with a real touchscreen or that such a model appears in parallel.
Waiting for the “new siri”
Bloomberg continues that there is currently “little to no expectations” that the hardware will be released this year. Instead, Apple will be waiting for the “new Siri” to be released in the coming year.
Software chief Craig Federighi had recently emphasized again in an interview that this was “no vaporware”. However, it was decided to choose a new technical variant after the first had not met Apple’s requirements. And that is exactly what will need until next year.
