Already the jump from the Apple Watch Ultra to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in 2023 was small: a somewhat accelerated system-in-package (Apple-S9-SIP), a brighter screen, a (not particularly) “magical” (o-sound Apple) double-tip gesture and other minor improvements-that’s it. Accordingly, the upgrade print of owners of the previous version was rather low. The same was then for the past year when Apple did not launch a completely new top clock, but only an additional color (“black”). Accordingly, the tension is now increasing: in September, Apple finally brings an Apple Watch Ultra 3, which also deserves the name thanks to new features? An overview of the previous rumors.
Finally up to date again
The missing Ultra 3 caused a strange floating state: Apple’s top computer clock was no longer Apple’s top computer clock. The reason: With the Series 10 last year, a number of new functions were added, which only received the standard clock, but not the Ultra 2. This should change with Ultra 3.
The next generation’s OLED should have a higher perspective, as you know from Series 10. In addition, the LTPO3 technology is allegedly installed, which allows more frequent refreshes (for example for a second hand) in Always-on mode. A slightly larger display – According to Leaks, 422 times 514 instead of 410 by 502 pixels – is also expected. After all, Apple will deliver a somewhat brisk processor with the new S11 SIP, although this probably does not get a new microarchitecture. It can be hoped that more on-device Ki applications are possible, but fully-fledged Apple intelligence support cannot be assumed.
New functions in the Apple Watch Ultra 3
Otherwise, new features in the radio area are supposedly intended, supposedly (fabricated) 5G instead of only LTE and satellite messages. There is also some hope that Apple enables blood pressure measurement (optically) for the first time, which is not a real representation of measured values but only a measurement of changes in a underlying value.
That means: With a real blood pressure monitor you have to determine where you are currently, the watch only alerts if it realizes that something has changed. The body temperature measurement of the watch also works in a similar way – this, too, only indicates changes. Apple currently includes more and more data than so-called vital values in a kind of overall score. There is also a separate one for that Vital sign app.
