Apple Watch – A watch for (almost) all cases | Mac & i-podcast

Is the wrist suitable as a place for a computer? Quite how the Apple Watch demonstrates. Apple pushed into the market for wearables with a wristwatch over 10 years ago, the start was bumpy. But the manufacturer quickly improved and constant-with hardware such as software-and soon achieved a big breakthrough: an EKG function transforms the watch into a medical and at the same time a potential lifesaver. Since then, Apple has not been able to deliver another health milestone of this caliber, but the watch continues to develop-and three new model generations are just around the corner.

In Episode 103 Malte Kirchner and Leo Becker take a look back at the early Watch years and the subsequent central development steps. We also deal with the meaning and nonsense of the growing number of health, fitness and security functions- as well as everyday benefits and the remaining mancos. The topic is also why the watch never became a huge app platform and we talk about the EU’s interoperability requirements. These should create comparable iPhone access for other smartwatches and could bring serious competition for the Apple Watch for the first time.
