Apple unveils new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip and 24 hours of battery life

Apple has just unveiled a new 14-inch laptop that introduces the company’s brand new M5 chipset and promises up to 24 hours of life on a single charge. The 14-inch MacBook Pro puts a strong emphasis on the capabilities of serious computing in the field of AI.

The new MacBook Pro with M5 uses a next-generation graphics chip with a neural accelerator in each core, resulting in 3.5 times higher AI performance and 1.6 times faster graphics than the M4.

The M5 also includes a 20% faster and more energy-efficient 10-core processor, an improved neural engine, and higher memory bandwidth that speeds up everything from launching apps to executing large language models (LLMs) on the device, Apple says.

The battery promises up to 24 hours of video streaming life – 2 times more than the previous model with the M4.

The laptop comes base with 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM, with sales starting on October 22, and the price is €1799, as before. Two colors are available – Space Black and Silver. There is an option to upgrade to as much as 4 TB SSD, while before the limit was 2 TB.

Apple also unveiled today an updated version of the Vision Pro with the M5, as well as new iPad Pro tablets with the chipset. However, higher-end MacBook Pro laptops, as well as MacBook Air with M5, are coming in the future.
