Apple sells the new MacBook Pro without a charger in Europe

Apple has decided to take the charger out of the box of its just-announced laptop in Europe. Playing with the upcoming regulations in the EU, the American company does not give the choice in the hands of consumers, but charges them 65 euros.

Apple’s decision not to include a charger in the kit of the new 14-inch MacBook Pro in Europe is due to a new EU regulation expected in April next year, according to which customers should have the option to buy certain devices without a charger included.

Therefore, Tim Cook and company have decided to simply remove the charger and charge it 65 euros in case someone still wants to have one in their box.

However, this move by Apple cannot be transferred to the EU, because according to the regulation, the manufacturer must give the option of a device without a charger, but has the right to sell the same device with a charger included in the kit. That is, here we do not have the analogy with phones, where it is not an option to have a version with a charger.

However, Apple missed this part and decided to just take advantage of the situation. They left only a USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable in the kit.

Thus, even with the most expensive configuration of the new MacBook Pro, the price of which reaches around 4000 euros, the customer still has to pay 65 euros for a 70 W charger or 85 euros for a 96 W charger.
