Apple presents iPhone 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max with A19-Pro-Chip

In addition to the completely new iPhone 17 Air, Apple has also presented three fresh versions of its existing model series. There is no longer a plus model this time. All three are equipped with the A19 Pro processor, which replaces the A18 Pro and how it brings two performance and four efficiency cores. “Neural Accelerators” are new in every graphics core. The clock rate should be slightly higher than 4 GHz; Apple is always silent about this value. All three models now have a front camera with 18 instead of 12 megapixels and the minimum equipment on the memory is 256 instead of 128 GB.

iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max now have a different design with a camera beam that extends over the entire width and displaces the area for wireless charging from the middle. LED lamps and lidar scanners no longer sit right next to the three lenses, but at the same height on the opposite edge.

The telephoto lens of the two Pro models has the zoom factor 4x (instead of 5x), but has a 48 instead of a 12-megapixel sensor. If you only use the internal 12 megapixels for a photo, as with the main camera you get the double zoom factor, but a lower light output. For the first time, iPhones can record the front and the main camera with the Apple’s own camera app at the same time with the front and main camera. Owners of iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max have recently reported thermal problems of their smartphones. For example, the battery is sometimes only up to 80 percent due to too much warming. The battery life is now said to have improved a lot.

The two Pro models spark with Wi-Fi 7 up to a speed of 2600 Mbit/s, provided the router supports this. The housing and display sizes have changed little. The iPhone 16 Pro already had a 120-Hertz display with OLED technology, 6.3 inch diagonals, 2622: x 1206 pixels, Dynamic Island. The iPhone 16 Pro Max was 2668: x 1320 pixels with 6.9 inches. You can be loaded with 25 watts via the USB-C socket and refuel smaller devices such as the AirPods. They are waterproof according to IP68 and are unlocked by facial recognition Face ID.

The Pro and Max “Cosmic Orange”, silver and deep blue are available as colors. The iPhone 17 Pro is now equipped with at least 256 GB of memory and thus costs 1299 euros. The predecessor was 1329 euros with 256 GB. The iPhone 17 Pro Max continues to cost 1449 euros with the same memory equipment. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is now also available with 2 TB stores, the iPhone 17 Pro remains with 1 TB.

The simple iPhone (without Pro) receives a display enlarged from 6.1 to 6.3 inch, which now creates 3000 nits brightness and also a variable refresh frequency up to 120 Hertz, which Apple calls promotion. This enables smooth scrolling as well as the energy-saving Alwayson display.

The iPhone 17 is available in the colors black, white, green, blue and purple (from Apple lavender, fog blue, called sage). It costs 949 euros with 256 GB of Speicher.
