Two hardware categories are obviously set for the next Apple keynote, which is under the motto “AWE Droping”: Four new iPhones of the 17 (17, 17 Air, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max), an Apple Watch Series 11 and possibly a new Apple watch-SE model. But what other devices could still be seen? An overview.
Rather yes: Airpods Pro 3 and Airtag 2
Most rumors believe that Apple will soon update the two-year-old Airpods Pro 2 with USB-C (which is even a year older in the Lightning variant) together with the new iPhones. Better ANC, a changed, possibly smaller loading case with touch operation and possibly an integrated heart rate sensor could come for the first time.
The second generation Airtags seem to be set. In the new models, among other things, a longer battery life with earlier warnings (but probably no battery), increased connection stability to the “Where is?”-Network with the second generation UWB chip with precision search from 60 meters (instead of 15) as well as improvements in data protection and safety (the device may be recognized if the loudspeaker has been manipulated). The Airtags are over four years old and very popular – so a new edition is worthwhile for Apple.
Rather no: iPad Pro with M5, MacBook and all the rest
Apple will probably not have time for new iPads such as the first iPad Pro with M5-SoC. Such products are more suitable for another presentation in October. The same applies to the new cheap MacBook, which has been awaited by some of them, which has been waving through the rumor mill for a long time. This time Apple seems to be presenting other new Macs for spring 2026.
With regard to other product lines, new HomePod (Mini) speakers are expected, but they also fit in October. The same applies to a new Apple TV 4K with a brisk SoC and a vision per 2, which should bring a faster chip and (somewhat) better wearing comfort. The Apple keynote will increase on September 9 from 7 p.m. German time. As always, Mac & I reports with a live ticker from the event, which will probably take between one and a half and two hours and should be a video recording again.
