Owners of some iPhone-17 models complain that they cannot (re) activate Apple Intelligence. The reason is obviously that there is a server error that ensures that the necessary support files are not completely downloaded. However, Apple’s AI system cannot be used without this. The files can be between 7 and 10 GB.
First it works, then not again
A affected person reports in Apple’s official support forumThat Apple Intelligence first ran, but then had to “reactivate” – including the announcement that the support files had to be downloaded again. However, this was not complete: two showed the system in the system settings that 6.59 GB was installed, but it was not an activation – obviously because the download did not go through completely. “I have already tried to restart the device, switch on and off the settings, to reset the network settings and log out of and log out of my Apple ID,” said the person concerned.
He further announced that he was an EU citizen and the attitudes in German. Apple Intelligence is regularly available in Germany. Overall, the service worked two days and then suddenly no longer. At first, it was not possible to determine how widespread the problem is. However, it seems to be different iPhones of the youngest generation. Reports are available from iPhone 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and Air.
Apple apparently informed
According to information from the official Apple support forum, Apple support has now been informed. There it apparently said that Apple is working on an update for the problem. Apparently it is not enough to make changes on the server side. According to a report by Macrumors, however, it can help To turn the network settings.
This includes deactivation of the mobile phone connection if you are in the WLAN, the activation and deactivation of the aircraft mode or the change in the language setting, which apparently can initiate a new download test. Furthermore, one could also try to reset the network settings or the entire device. Here, however, data is also lost. It therefore seems more sensible to wait for iOS 26.1 that should appear in October. Alternatively, it is also possible for Apple to insert a bugfix update 26.0.1.
