Competition in the folding devices segment is becoming more fierce. And while we are waiting for the first folding iPhone that is expected next year, it seems apple has paused the development of a folding iPad or an alleged hybrid device with a folding display.
According to Digitimes sourcesApple has stopped developing the folding tablet for several reasons. On the one hand, the company wants to concentrate back on the launch of its first folding smartphone device, which MSE expects to be without a visible fold on the display.
On the other hand, the issue of the difficulties in the production of such gadgets is. At least for the time being, the folding segment is a rather small percentage of complete mobile technology sales worldwide, which also makes its production much more expensive than a normal mobile phone, for example.
The rumors that hover around the Internet have argued that the folding iPad will have an OLED panel between 18.8 ” and 20.2 ”, with no visible fold in the middle. The launch date varied between 2026 and 2028, but after the last development, it seems more like an optimistic plan than as a real-life goal.
As for Apple’s competition, yesterday, Honor introduced the Magic V5, which returned the crown for the thinnest folding smartphone in the world back to the Chinese giant. In less than a week, Samsung will show its new devices from the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip at a special event in New York.
