Apple for Vision Pro: Next “Full concentration” on augmented reality

What’s next for the Vision Pro? Apple’s first headset that came onto the market last year is currently only continued on the software side. With Visionos 26, which is to be released in autumn, for example, widgets, improved avatars and support for Sony’s VR controller. Now Apple CEO Tim Cook has also commented on how to proceed. On the sidelines of the announcement of the quarterly figures last week, he also answered questions about the augmented and virtual reality business.

He was “delighted” about what the team delivered to Visionos 26. “This contains many things, including spatial widgets with which users can design their digital space.” There is also “a huge improvement” in the persona function. The avatars see “much lifelike”.

Furthermore, Cook emphasized the improved APIs for corporate customers who are still increasingly interested in the Pro vision. One continues to concentrate on it very much, “said Cook. The Apple boss naturally did not want to comment on a possible roadmap. But it was an area” we really believe “.

Hardware story: What’s next for the Vision Pro?

Apple does not comment on possible new hardware. Observers are currently assuming at least two new vision models. A second Pro model should come with M4 chip and possibly receive a more comfortable headband-one of the main criticisms on the current device. There could also be a cheaper entry -level model and/or a variant that is specifically intended for connection to a Mac, for example for industrial applications.

Anyone who wants to get in with the Vision Pro today still have to dig deep into their pockets: 3999 euros the device costs at least. There is no free trade for the headset, only Apple sells the hardware directly. You can only make one or the other “bargain” on eBay, here used models are listed from 2500 euros. Apple itself is currently supposed to sell models that are still in stock. The production of the current generation has already been ended. Apple continues to work internally on a “real” augmented reality glasses with a much more convenient form factor.
