The concerns come from a group of the company’s engineers involved in testing the new Siri functionalities, which we first heard about and saw during WWDC 2024.
Despite a series of postponements and the additional time to develop and fine-tune the details, the aforementioned employees of the Apple have expressed concern about Siri’s performance in performing tasks.
Garman adds that if the next generation of voice assistant fails, some of the senior developers responsible for advancing Apple’s AI services may even lose their jobs.
Two teams are working on the new Siri, one responsible for creating AI models that can perform tasks on the device itself, and the second is responsible for tasks that require cloud technology with the participation of Google Gemini.
For now, we should see a smarter version of Siri along with the release of iOS 26.4 in April. However, if the aforementioned problems are not fixed, we will not be surprised if Apple resorts to a new postponement or complete suspension of the project.
