There shouldn’t be a chatbot from Apple – at least that is how information from the group’s executive floor. But internally there should already be the first tests – an outdated Siri and a large language model (Large Language Model, LLM). The project is called “Veritas” and is said to have been created in preparation for the long -awaited context -sensitive siri. Currently it only seems to be used within the group’s AI department. It is still unclear whether the technology will end up in the iPhone in spring 2026 writes Bloomberg.
Project truth only for internal use
There were already indications that Apple could build a chatt competitor at least for search queries-a little like a “answer machine” in the style of perplexity. However, the “LLM-Siri” should continue. What is special is the possibility of accessing apps on the iPhone and using the personal data it contains-for example from emails or chats. The app serves “to quickly check new Siri functions,” it said. iPhone data can be searched-such as songs and photos-as well as actions, such as editing photos. “Veritas” is Latin and means “truth” in German.
The app is also a milestone for the group without a public release-a new phase that promises a kind of AI comeback. Apple did not comment on the report. The app uses Apple’s new code base Linwood, which Siri is supposed to make much more intelligent. It combines Apple’s own basic models and is also capable of integrating third-party LELMs. In addition to Openai’s technology, which is already in iOS, Anthropics Claude are also in the room here.
Standalone chat bot better than LLM-Siri?
Bloomberg Write in another reportApple’s chatbot deserves a public release. At the moment Apple is not planning to publish a chat bot for end customers, the app is only about testing internally how the new Siri works.
The users wanted a “real” chatbot. This makes it possible to overcome the problems that Siri has been carrying along for years. Apple is risking to water down a possibly pioneering AI technology by setting it up exclusively in existing platform. “A chatbot as a standalone app could generate much more interest.”
