Apple surprisingly discontinued the workplace comedy “Mythic Quest”, which is located in the game industry. The series will not continue after the fourth season that had only ended in March, which had a cliffhanger. This was confirmed by the makers the industry sheet Variety. After all, the financiers at the streaming service TV+ are so nice to give the show a worthy end: According to Star and maker Rob Mcelhenney, there will be a special episode that should summarize the loose ends and bring to a conclusion.
Rated well, for a long time
“Mythic Quest” resembled similar nerd comedies, such as “Silicon Valley”. A mixture of crazy and very special humor – which gamer in particular – met with conventional elements. The degree of reality was high, so that some industry insiders also found themselves. The criticism was last on Rotten Tomatoes at 97 percent. “Mythic Quest” was one of the first shows that Apple produced itself. After the TV+start in November 2019, she started in February, received the “Go” early for the second and then for the third and fourth season.
The show was designed by Mcelhenney, who is himself a gamer and became known with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, together with Charlie Day (also “Sunny”) and Megan. In addition to Mcelhenney, David Hornsby and Danny Pudi (also “community”) played.
Does Apple save money?
It is unclear why “Mythic Quest” was set relatively abruptly. Apple spends billions for TV+ billions, even if the streaming service is deep in the minus, but now wants to finance less richly, it seems. “The end of something is always difficult,” said the producers entirely and Mcelhenney together with David Hornsby, who also plays and produces. Mythic Quest is now being discontinued after “four incredible seasons”. Apple thanked “that they believed in our vision”.
With the blessing of the iPhone manufacturer, it is now possible to make “one last update of our last episode”. “So that we can say goodbye instead of just game over.” Most recently, it actually looked good for “Mythic Quest”, in which Ubisoft Film & Television was also involved. There were two specials plus a spin-off mini series called “Side Quest”, which only debuted at the end of March.
