Three years after the beginning of the Russian attack on Ukraine, Apple took new measures against the use of its technology in Russia. How Moscow media report, Developer in the country lost access to the so -called Apple Developer Enterprise Program (ADEP) on February 12. It is unclear why Apple had previously left open, even though various sanctions had been implemented against Russia.

Program closed, data deleted?

Apple had given no further information to the developers, with previous sanctions there was at least the information that “international restrictions” had to be implemented. In the past year, the United States had re-sharpened sanctions against Russia, including new software categories such as CRMS, ERP programs, business intelligence, SCM and PLM platforms that may no longer be exported. Cloud offers of this kind have not been allowed for Russian people since then.
App Store continues in Russia
As in other countries, ADEP was used in Russia, especially for testing and using internal use of apps in companies – for example for business applications that should not be in the App Store. Apple had gradually implemented sanctions against Russia. The direct sale of products was ended as well as the use of Apple Pay in the country.
However, the App Store still exists, whereby Apple even has instructions from Russian authorities when banning VPN and media apps. However, there is a flourishing gray trade, Apple products are brought to the Russian market via other countries, some with clear surcharges.
