Apple: an iPhone for 2449 euros – and it is not a foldable

Before – more precisely: at 14 Pro Max in the top version – there were iPhones who cost over 2000 euros. This had to do with inflation and a high dollar course. It has now dropped again and the topic of tariffs from the US government does not affect Europe either. Nevertheless, Apple has now presented smartphones with yesterday’s keynote that tear the crossbar – clearly.

The reason is a feature update that has not yet existed on the iPhone: for the first time, devices with up to 2 TB can be purchased. The previous memory limit of 1 TB is exceeded. This form of special equipment is also only available for one model: The iPhone 17 Pro Max. The 6.9-inch model begins at 1449 euros with (only) 256 GB, which is also the current tariff at Apple. The 1949 euros for the 1 TB device have not changed. But if you want to double the memory to 2 TB, you need deep pockets: 2449 euros are then due.

At this price you get a MacBook Pro M4 Pro already well equipped With 12 cores and 24 GB of RAM – and even has 50 euros left (the Trading price is still significantly below). Of course has one iPhone 17 Pro Max with 2 TB A rather small target group – for example video filmmakers who do not want to connect SSD to the device, or (large) film fans. Nevertheless, the price shows in which direction at Apple.

Because in the coming autumn there will already be a first foldable of the group. The “iPhone fold” (name still unclear) will be started at 2000 euros, if not because of it. Higher memory equipment could then scratch the 3000 euro brand for the first time.

Incidentally, there were no real price increases for the US market-as partly feared. Despite the tariffs of the Trump administration and advanced component inflation, Apple kept it stable. In view of the table, EU citizens are certainly tearing: the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts without sales tax-there are US states that have no – at $ 1199. Even the 2-TB model does not tear the $ 2000 brand: it ends up at exactly 1999 dollars.
