The ability to watch video content on Apple Carplay will be available by connecting your iPhone to the vehicle system via AirPlay. However, this option can only be used in the case of a stopped vehicle.
According to Apple, the connected iPhone will be able to detect when the car resumes and departs, and then turn off the video stream automatically. The company adds that adding support for the new feature will take time and will be responsible for each individual carmaker.
Such functionality would be extremely useful for electric cars that are charged beyond the comfort of our home or in the case of a long trip during a long trip. Tesla electric vehicles have long included such a system, with the opportunity to view content from streaming platforms.
Airplay Video will be available to both Carplay and Carplay Ultra, but the official launch date is still missing so far. Possible access to the function may depend on the laws and regulations of each country.
