Ever since announcing the big iOS design change during this year’s WWDC conference, the Liquid Glass effect has sparked controversy among fans of Apple and many of them insisted on the option of its complete exclusion. The company seems to have heard their calls, because MacRumors reports that with the arrival of iOS 26.1, we will have additional control over it.
During the open beta tests of iOS 26 in the summer, Apple changed the transparency and strength of the effect due to issues with the readability of on-screen messages and text materials.
Now, the new internal beta of the upcoming iOS 26.1 update includes a new Liquid Glass control option that allows us to keep the original transparency or reduce it significantly.

This will be done by entering the settings and reaching the options related to the display and brightness. There will be a Liquid Glass section that will allow us to choose between two modes – Clear and Tinted.
In addition to this innovation, in iOS 26.1 we will also see the possibility of disabling the setting that allows swipe access to the camera when our phone is locked. We will be able to find it again in the settings, reaching the camera and reaching the Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera section.

The full version of iOS 26.1 is expected in the next few weeks.
