All iPhone 17 models will use Apple developed new Wi-Fi chip

The just-announced iPhone 16e may not impress with innovative extras, but it turned out to be Apple's first device with their 5G modem. The company plans to continue its march to independence from suppliers and other components, now it is rumored that the whole series of iPhone 17 will be equipped with a new Wi-Fi chip with the Apple logo.

It turns out that Apple is not yet ready to replace the 5G Qualcomm modem in all its devices and in the iPhone 17 series expected this year only the new iPhone 17 Air addition will be equipped with its own Apple C1 modem.

Against this background, however, a new Wi-Fi chip is expected to appear, also a development of Apple, which will be integrated into all four iPhone 17 models, Ming-chi Quo reports. This means that the current provider of this component Broadcom will lose a colossal order from Tim Cook and this will be a serious blow to its financial results.

The analyst points out that independence and cost reduction are not the only motivation for Apple's decision to create its own Wi-Fi chip. This solution is expected to improve connectivity between the company's devices.

We expect the iPhone 17 series in September.
