AirPods Pro 3: Heart rate measurement also in combination with Apple Watch

With the appearance of the new Airpods Pro 3, the pulse of Apple users can be monitored twice: this works From first tests the new plug, which will also be officially suitable for use of sports in the future. It was already known that Apple would integrate the Airpods Pro 3 with its newly integrated heart rate sensor into the fitness app. So you can also fill them to fill the Movement Use – the used calories are calculated from the pulse. To this end, Apple installs an extremely small Pllethysmography sensor that pulsates up to 256 times a second using infrared light. The data also ends up in the Health app, where you can read out your origin.

According to a report by 9to5mac, Apple tries to use the most precise value while wearing Airpods Pro 3 and the Apple Watch. If you train, Apple’s algorithm monitors both data sources to determine which device provides the most consistent information. The algorithm also takes into account the type of training that is currently running.

“So if it is a training session with many wrist movements, Apple Fitness prioritizes the data of the Airpods Pro 3. For example, if you lift weights and your Apple Watch lies at an unfavorable angle, the AirPods Pro 3 will step in to provide more precise data.” In addition, there are special cases in which the Apple Watch can only poorly monitor the pulse – for example if tattoos are available in the wrist area.

With the AirPods Pro 3 alone, around 50 different workout types should be usable. It is still unclear whether Apple also captures movements in addition to the pulse – the plugs actually have corresponding sensors. In addition to the Airpods Pro 3, Apple has also announced that the group’s first earphones equipped with pulse measurement-the Powerbeats per 2. Several new functions appear via software update.

Similar to the Airpods Pro 3, the beats plugs can now be integrated directly into Apple’s fitness app. Here, too, a good 50 different workout types can be used and you can obviously also close the movement ring. In addition, you can only use a plug for tracking if that is desired. However, the sensor is less precise than that of the AirPods Pro 3 – it pulsates 100 times per second.
