To take advantage of the new functionality, you will need to be sure that your AirPods headsets are updated to the latest firmware, and that you own a device that supports the AI Package Apple Intelligence, which has been upgraded to iOS 26.
The real -time translation option allows free communication between two or more people who use their native language to speak to each other, completely free from potential concerns.
This type of conversation, of course, is the easiest way if each party has the necessary AirPods. Then the active sound insulation system automatically reduces the original voice of the speaker so that we can hear the translation coming from the headphones themselves as clearly as possible.

However, if one participant in the conversation does not have one of the three AirPods models that will have access to the feature, then its translation will be visualized on the iPhone device, which it uses but in text form, respectively.
Currently maintained languages, between which such translation can be made are 5 – English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Apple plans to add support for Italian, Korean, Japanese and Chinese later this year.
When or whether support for Bulgarian language will be added, it still remains a mystery.
