Airbnb before radical change: booking of services now possible

Airbnb can no longer only book accommodations, but also a number of services and activities. The US company has now announced this And presented an extensive revision of the app. For example, you can order a cook directly in the, a personalized photo shoot, a haircut or a massage. The activities include riding tours, museum tours or cooking courses. People would choose hotels because of their services, so far it was only about the accommodations on Airbnb, explains Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky: “Now we are offering the best of both worlds.”

The new offers are first available in 260 cities around the world. In order to book the services, you don’t have to spend a vacation there, but can also order it directly home. At the beginning there are “services” in ten categories, but more should be added. Airbnb assures that the services “would be checked for their quality with regard to specialist knowledge and reputation”. The providers therefore have ten years of experience on average, verified their identity and submitted relevant evidence.

For Airbnb, the step could initiate a radical change in the app, because so far the usually only a few times a year has been used. If you can book the services in their home town soon, you could take the application at hand much more often – and in return Airbnb earn much more. Co -founder Nate Blecharczyk thinks it is possible that you may be surprised by your company how big the business is over. In addition, you are already spending significantly more for food, purchases and activities when traveling than for accommodation. Airbnb could now get significantly more of it.

The so -called discoveries are even available in more than 650 cities for the introduction, explains Airbnb. New should be added every day. As an example, the company sets Conversation with an architect of the Notre-Dame restoration team or a Rear excursion with an expert for the Inca in the Andes. As Airbnb Originals, there should also be activities “with the most interesting people in the world”. This includes Airbnb beach volleyball player Carol Solberg, singer Sabrina Carpenter and footballer Patrick Mahomes. The activities with them can only be asked in the app.

Airbnb takes 20 percent of the fee of the providers of the experiences, and it is 15 percent for services. The company pays the transaction costs for payments, customer service and insurance companies, among other things. Those responsible for the services and experiences are not exclusively bound to the platform. In Germany, the average costs for an introduction to the introduction should be $ 66, which currently corresponds to 59 euros. The first service categories were therefore selected based on the interests of users.
