Switch to Microsoft 365: own study “proves” advantages for companies

Microsoft pushes corporate customers with permanent office licenses to switch to Microsoft-365 subscriptions. It promises easier collaborations in a team and easier access to files and programs when working mobile. Microsoft also advertises with access to AI tools and lower IT costs through the subscription, since it also includes applications for video conferences and an email service, which would otherwise cause additional costs.

In a blog post points Microsoft to a specially commissioned study by the advisory and market research company Forrester. Accordingly, a subscription to Microsoft 365 for Business has an amortization period of less than six months and enables companies to return 223 percent over three years. Furthermore, the subscription decreases the necessary time for collaborative work by an hour and a half per user. In addition, it reduces the time requirement of IT support by 686 hours annually.

The basic tariff of Microsoft 365 for Business includes the office programs as web apps, email services as well as video conferences and a terabyte cloud memory per employee. In the monthly subscription, the tariff costs 6.72 euros net per month and user. With the standard edition for 14.04 euros, there is additional access to the desktop applications of the Office Suite and the video editing Clipchamp. The premium variant complements the scope with Entra ID, Microsoft Defender and PurView for 24.72 euros net per month and user. No tariff contains the AI assistant Microsoft Copilot 365, it can only be booked as an add-on.

Alternatively, with Microsoft 365 Apps for Business, there is a tariff that only includes the desktop applications of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook, as well as the OneDrive memory. Web and mobile apps are not included for 11.76 euros per month and users. The business tariffs are aimed at small and medium-sized companies, for large companies, educational institutions and non-profit organizations are available to their own Microsoft 365 packages. Finally, the open source collaboration platform NEXTCLOUD HUB with the update to version 10 brought an open AI agent.
