Anyone who has to concentrate intensively in order to be able to do creative work, for example, can benefit from background sounds intended. This can also help neurodively people. Apple has packed a function called “Background noises” in its operating aids for several iOS versions, which among other things Have the rain, sea sounds or different noise types switched on. However, the selection was quite limited. With iOS 18.4, which will probably be released this week, this should change: Apple packs so-called ambient music directly into the iPhone control center.
Four times four playlists
The function can be called up by its own button, which can even be configured to the sound type. Apple has covered a total of four subject areas for which there are suitable playlists: “sleep”, “calming”, “productivity” and “Wellbeing”, the latter intended for meditation and self-car. In turn, there are four sun -round goals per topic, which can be selected according to taste. The content comes from Apple Music, but a subscription to the streaming service is not required.
In the area of productivity, there are instrumentals with a driving beat, bineral sounds and classic for concentration. In the sleeping area you can be lulled with sleeping sounds, a “sound bath” or piano sleeping music. The soothing playlists cover Ambient and Lo-Fi jazz. With “Wellbeing” there are spa sounds, “pure calm” and “beats and breathing”.
Update is probably coming this week
The offer is so extensive that you are surprised why Apple did not immediately put it in its own app and instead hiding it in the control center. The respective playlists can also be controlled as accustomed to the music app-this is how you can also rewind. In order to conjure up the ambient music, you first have to make suitable entries in the control center and get the respective buttons on the screen.
Nevertheless, the new function is welcome. iOS 18.4 is scheduled to appear in April and could already be released for all users on Tuesday evening as a update. The Release Candidate 2 of iOS 18.4 was published last week.
