Apple will also build the brand new iPhone 16e on the Indian subcontinent – in addition to the already started production in China. This was announced by the group of the Economic Times, which was published in Mumbai. Accordingly, the 16e produced for both the domestic market and the export in India. “The entire iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16E, is built in India for Indian consumers and for export to selected countries,” Apple writes in an answer to a request from the newspaper last week.

India builds and buys (more)
Apple is currently building the Republic of India the second most important production location behind the People's Republic of China. For this purpose, several large factories were established by manufacturing partners such as Foxconn. Most recently, Beijing had tried to make Apple more difficult to build this production, for example, by banning or slowing machines from the customs of machines. In addition, Chinese helpers are no longer allowed to leave the factory as before. These are needed because necessary competencies are still missing on site, but the Apple can be built up.
In addition to production, India should also be an important sales market for Apple. The subcontinent now houses the most populous country on earth and has thus left China. Initial shops and an expansion of the online business are intended to ensure that the large growing medium-sized company India uses iPhone, iPad or Mac more often. All of this is reminiscent of Apple's China strategy: At first it was mainly produced, but then the country behind the USA became the second or third most important sales market. However, this now weakens (again) – especially on the iPhone.
iPhone-13e prize controversy
The iPhone 16e is immediately marketed in India. It costs the equivalent of 660 euros, so it is only slightly cheaper than with us (699 euros). Apple started in the USA with a price of $ 599, but there are also consumption taxes, depending on the state. A real “entry -level model” is actually no longer a “entry -level model” due to this price – the pre -model SE 3 had once started the trade at 519 euros.
Apple puts a lot of money in Indian production facilities, which are then operated by finished workers such as Pegatron, Foxconn, Flex or Tata. The purpose of the exercise is not to be as much dependent on China as a manufacturing location. So far, Apple has not communicated to which countries the Indian iPhones are going into. Those in Europe seem to come from the People's Republic.
